Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

February 7-13, 2017

On Friday night we celebrated the Office of the Dead for Father Gavin. Father Jeremy gave the remembrance. We laid Father Gavin to rest on Saturday during our Eucharist. Archabbot Kurt served as the principal celebrant and gave the homily. Thank you for your prayers for Father Gavin and our community. Click here for a link to his obituary.

On Tuesday, Dr. Cecilia Moore, associate professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Dayton, delivered the annual Black History Lecture in the Seminary and School of Theology on Black Catholics in America. Dr. Moore and Father Cyprian had been collaborating extensively on revising the History of Black Catholics in America. Dr. Moore continues the revision work on our late Father Cyprian's book.

On Friday, several members of our community joined the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand for Vespers and dinner to commemorate the 150th anniversary of their founding.
