Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

August 21-27, 2017

On Monday and Tuesday, we celebrated Father Timothy's life with Office of the Dead and the Eucharist, respectively. Father Justin offered the remembrance for Father Timothy at the Office of the Dead, and Father Meinrad offered the homily during the Eucharist.

Father Timothy is now buried among the row of Saint Meinrad Abbots in our cemetery. May Father Timothy's soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

We had a community meeting on Tuesday to continue thinking about how we as a monastery can seek God and serve the Church -- especially through our works like our Seminary and School of Theology, Guest Services, Abbey Caskets, service-based outreach (e.g., Branchville Prison) and material/financial outreach (e.g., food boxes, financial assistance to families in the area). Pray for us as we continue to discern how the Holy Spirit is calling us to serve the Church.

Many students returned midweek to serve on the orientation team to welcome the new seminarians. The seminarians have an Intensive Spirituality Formation Week from Monday, August 28, through Friday, September 1. They end the ISFW on Sunday with a Day of Prayer and classes begin on Tuesday, September 5.

We are hosting a 5k walk/run on campus on the morning of September 16. Check out this invitation video from Brother Nathaniel.

Here are our upcoming feast days for September:

1      Brother Giles

8      Brother Mario

14    Brother Simon

17    Father Lambert

20    Brother Kim

30    Brother Jerome

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
