Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

September 2-8, 2016

Archabbot Kurt remains in Rome for the continuation of the Abbot's Congress (which just elected Abbot Gregory Polan, OSB, of Conception Abbey as Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation).

On Monday, Labor Day, we celebrated the Mass for the Sanctification of Human Labor.

On Tuesday, we celebrated Father Bonaventure's 98th birthday. He joined the head table and we enjoyed cake and colloquium (talking) at dinner in his honor.

Our infirm are settling into the renovated infirmary space in the monastery. Several of the infirmary staff, physical facilities crew, volunteers and monks helped our infirm move on Wednesday. It was quite the undertaking and it went very smoothly. Pray for our infirm as they continue to settle in and situate.

As you may recall, we have a new elevator near our infirmary, and our other two elevators recently had some maintenance and passed inspection.

Father Vincent, through our Guest House, led a retreat last weekend: "Simplicity: To Have is not to Be."

Brother Francis posted a new blog: "Pray Always."

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
