Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

November 11-16, 2016

On Sunday, November 13, we will had a bi-community Mass (Seminary and Monastic communities, as well as the weekend graduate students) in the Archabbey Church to celebrate the closing of the Holy Door, ending the celebration of the Year of Mercy as well as looking at how we can continue growing in mercy.

On Sunday, November 20, we invited our co-workers to join us for Mass in the Archabbey Church, followed by a reception to let them know, in a special way, our gratitude for working with us in serving the Church.

Father Noël led a retreat last weekend: "The Francis Effect ." He reflected on the ministries of St. Francis of Assisi and Pope Francis.

Father Denis R. traveled to Rome for the elevation of the cardinals, especially supporting Cardinal Tobin in this wonderful occasion. We are grateful for his service to our Archdiocese and to the whole Church. Let us join in prayer to ask God's blessings on Cardinal Tobin's continued ministry, especially as he embarks on ministry to the people of the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey.

We look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving as a community this week, as well as with our friends and family who are in town. We have a lot for which to be grateful, and Thanksgiving is a reminder to us all to not lose sight of gratitude and hope in God's grace and mercy. Thank you for your prayerful support of Saint Meinrad.

Peace be with you all. (There will be no About the House during Thanksgiving week as this writer will be away spending the week on vacation with family and friends in Ohio.)

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
