Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

December 2-8, 2016

Here is a link to our Christmas liturgies should you be interested in praying with us:

Father Harry gave our second Advent conference this Wednesday on "Advent Revealed in the Hymns."

We celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday. We had a revised "Sunday schedule" with Mass at 11 a.m. and Midday prayer prayed within the Eucharist. Archabbot Kurt presided and Deacon Brandon Bigam from the Diocese of Lexington preached. We had colloquium (talking) at dinner, which was our main meal of the day.

We are gearing up to welcome about 100 oblates this weekend for their December retreat.

Today (Friday) was the last day of classes for the academic semester in our Seminary and School of Theology. Regular classes resume January 30, but the January Interterm begins on January 9.

Archabbot Kurt and Fathers Noël, Justin and Denis R. attended the "Thank you/Farewell" Eucharist on Saturday at the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Cathedral in honor of Cardinal Joseph Tobin, who will soon depart for the Archdiocese of Newark, NJ.

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
