Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

August 26 - September 1, 2016

We had the Office of the Dead on Sunday and the Funeral Mass for Father Cletus on Sunday and Monday, respectively. Father Denis Q. offered the remembrance on Sunday and Archabbot Kurt presided at the Funeral Mass on Monday.

In case you missed it last week, here is Father Cletus' obituary.

Archabbot Kurt left today (Friday, September 2) for Rome for the quadrennial Abbot's Congress. Father Edward has been helping arrange some things for Abbot Kurt while he is there, and he also plans to see Father Ephrem while there.

Father Louis Mulcahy held the reigns as organizer of the Monte Cassino pilgrimages. He turned the leadership over to Father Luke, who will be assisted by Brother Jean and Novice Joshua.

Here is a link to the Monte Cassino pilgrimage dates, times and presenters.

Brother Martin led a retreat through the Guest House last weekend: "Living Monastic Values in Everyday Life."

Seminary and graduate studies are in full swing as of this week. Several monks are involved in formation and teaching, as well as students. Pray for their intellectual formation.

Our infirm monks, staff and helper-monks began packing up some belongings to move into the monastery infirmary out of St. Anselm Hall. The move date is set for next Wednesday. Pray for a smooth and stress-free move for our infirm monks and the infirmary staff.

Our refectory (dining room) is growing closer to completion from its renovation. We are eager to eat at "home," though the walk to Anselm Hall from the monastery has added some good steps to our days.

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
