Program Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the 18-credit specialization certificate in Church History will:

  1. Establish broad foundation of knowledge concerning the global history of the Catholic Church from the first century through the current era;

  2. Demonstrate depth of knowledge in one or more focused areas of Church History through the completion of elective coursework.

Requirements

  • Early Church History (3 credits)

  • Medieval Church History (3 credits)

  • Modern Church History (3 credits)

  • 9 credits of elective coursework from courses starting 30:xxx. Elective courses might include American Church History, Women in Early Christianity, The Documents of Vatican II, History of Christian Spirituality, The Icon East and West, Directed Research Project, or other courses approved by the Director of Graduate Theology Programs.
