This year, our goal for the school in Guatemala is to give every student the tools they need to learn and grow, both in the classroom and in their faith.
Each of the 450 students already has a Bible, but not the common prayer books that help them deepen their daily faith. This year, we hope to provide age-appropriate devotionals for all students, both elementary and high school, plus the dedicated faculty and staff. The cost of the books varies depending on which books we purchase.
There is a mini devotional that we would like to give everyone because they can carry it with them, and it costs only about $1.00 USD each, thus $450.00 USD.
We want to assist in the creating an environment where these young students can learn with dignity, experience the joy of music, and grow in their faith. As a minimum, we hope to purchase new student desks, to repair broken musical instruments and purchase new instruments to replace ones that are beyond repair, and finally, to purchase devotionals that are suitable for a particular age group and will positively support a life of prayer.
Within the seminary itself, we are adding a friendly House competition, and below there is the option for crediting your gift to a particular House in the seminary. Each seminarian is assigned to a House when he begins formation at Saint Meinrad. A House is a group of seminarians from different dioceses and stages of formation, designed to build and foster community within the seminary.
