Biography
Dr. Christopher Hoskins teaches and researches in the area of pastoral care and counseling, particularly around the topics of immigration and care, psychology of religion, trauma and grief, ministry with families, and the ecological aspects of pastoral care. His writing appears in publications such as Journal of Pastoral Theology and Pastoral Psychology.
Prior to arriving to Saint Meinrad, Dr. Hoskins was a Fellow in Theology and Practice at Vanderbilt University as well as receiving a study grant from the James Lawson Institute for the research of faith-based nonviolent movements and political mediation in Ecuador. During doctoral studies he served as adjunct faculty at North Park Theological Seminary as well as serving at the Center for World Christian Studies, assisting in theological education partnerships and pastoral formation. Prior to doctoral studies, he was interim rector of Seminario Iglesia del Pacto Evangélico del Ecuador in Quito. Dr. Hoskins has served in a variety of Protestant parishes and organizations in the United States, Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador, assigned to seminary programs, parish pastoral care and outreach, and in community institutions such as diaconal-humanitarian relief and development and hospital chaplaincy.
Dr. Hoskins serves on the steering committee of the Association of Practical Theology and is a member of the Society for Pastoral Theology. He also has several co-editing projects on special journal issues for pastoral care and theology as well as an edited volume in global health humanities.
He and his wife Jenny have two children.
