Biography
Dr. Sam Mullins joined the faculty of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in 2026. He teaches courses on the New Testament in the seminary, the permanent deacon formation program, and the graduate theology program.
Dr. Mullins is a specialist in hermeneutics, and his work aims to synthesize the insights of patristic exegesis and more modern methods of biblical interpretation. His dissertation explores the allegorical interpretation of the Church Fathers, showing that they established rules to assess the validity of allegorical readings. He has been published in The Journal of the Bible and its Reception, The International Journal of Platonic Philosophy, The Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception, and has an upcoming article in Studia Patristica.
Before coming to St. Meinrad, Dr. Mullins was a visiting professor at Providence College. He received his Ph.D. from Emory University, and his M.T.S. from Notre Dame. He is originally from Dayton, Ohio.
