The Romm Trio concert

Saint Meinrad Archabbey Cultural Events, St. Meinrad, IN, will present a trumpet and piano concert on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. Central Time in the St. Bede Hall Theater.

The concert will be performed by The Romm Trio, consisting of family members Ronald, Avis, and Aaron Romm. The program will include pieces by composers Manuel de Falla, Johann Sebastian Bach, Maurice Ravel, Rafael Méndez, Scott Joplin, and more.

Internationally acclaimed trumpet player Ronald Romm earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from The Juilliard School in New York. In 1971, he co-founded Canadian Brass, a group that has achieved global renown and has become a leading force in the world of brass ensembles. Throughout his career, Ronald has performed in over 4,500 concerts and has contributed to 60 recordings.

From 2002-2021, he served as professor of trumpet at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a Warburton Signature Artist and a Yamaha Performing Artist.

Avis Romm earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Science degree from The Juilliard School. She is highly respected in the field of opera, having coached, directed, conducted, and performed in hundreds of opera productions internationally.

She is a music educator, specializing in the Carabo-Cone Method. She serves as the accompanist faculty member for the Illinois Summer Youth Music Pre-college Trumpet program at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She participated in Yamaha Music Canada’s project that focused on integrating music education into public schools. Avis is a Steinway Performing Artist.

Aaron Romm currently teaches at the University of Kansas. Previously, he served as co-principal trumpet at the Sarasota Orchestra in Florida and as a staff musician at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He has been a faculty member at the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute.

He has had the privilege of performing as a soloist and in ensembles of various genres throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe, and South Korea. Aaron is also a Warburton Performing Artist.
