Our familiar logo has served as a symbol of Saint Meinrad’s mission and Benedictine identity for over 30 years. The logo and original brand identity were released in 1995, and our brand template was last updated in 2010. The industry standard for a brand refresh is every 5-10 years.
Just as buildings need maintenance from time to time, a visual identity needs refreshing to continue to communicate clearly, consistently, and flexibly across newsletters, websites, social media, and more.
This is a refresh, not a rebrand. The new design is more versatile and readable while remaining identifiable as Saint Meinrad. The refresh includes the logo, an expanded color palette, two new fonts, a brand identity guide, and templates for print and digital communications.
Church towers: Present in the old logo, they are our most recognizable landmark.
Ravens: Also seen in the old logo, they were companions of St. Benedict and St. Meinrad. The ravens represent obedience and the Benedictine way of life.
Boat: Appearing in the Archabbey coat of arms and the School seal, it honors the monks’ journey from Switzerland to Indiana and symbolizes the Church on mission.
The new logo and brand identity will officially launch on January 5, 2026.
The transition will be gradual. Over time, the new logo will replace the old one in all communications, ensuring a smooth and cost-effective shift to the refreshed identity. Departments will use up their old materials within a year of the public launch and order new materials with the new brand identity.
The refresh was created in two phases. Phase 1 began in the spring of 2025 and included the logo, color palette, fonts, and brand guide. Phase 2, completed in November, added templates for print and digital use. Designer Daniela Madriz, who works primarily with Catholic institutions, ensured the update was thoughtful and true to Saint Meinrad’s identity.
A strong, consistent visual identity allows us to share our story clearly and confidently across many platforms. It strengthens recognition, supports communication, and helps Saint Meinrad continue its work into the future.
No. The refresh is purely visual. Our mission, programs, and values remain the same: living the rhythm of prayer and work, forming leaders for the Church, and extending hospitality by welcoming all guests as Christ.
You are key partners in Saint Meinrad’s mission. Sharing the refresh with you first is our way of saying thank you and giving you an exclusive first look before it is publicly revealed.
The refresh was carefully planned and implemented to ensure a high-quality result while being fiscally responsible. The graphic designer fee for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project was $11,000. All materials with the old logo will be phased out over the next year and ordered with the new branding.
