Dr. Schemenauer teaches the Catholic Social Ethics and Fundamental Moral Theology courses at Saint Meinrad. He wrote his dissertation on Dietrich von Hildebrand's treatment of procreation, which was published as Conjugal Love and Marriage: Dietrich von Hildebrand's Superabundant Integration with Lexington Books in 2011.

His current research focuses on the impact of consumerism on family life, the virtue of simplicity, how habits related to social ministry are formed in the family, and the writings of Dietrich von Hildebrand. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Schemenauer has given a number of parish talks related to Catholic social ethics, family ethics, and medical ethics. He currently serves as an Ethics Committee member with St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Prior to joining the faculty at Saint Meinrad in 2013, he served as a faculty member at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He and his wife Frances have three young boys.
