Book features words of wisdom from saintly men and women
April 09, 2012
Men, women and children who have been honored with
the title of Saint or Blessed had lives comparable to our own,
according to Br. Silas Henderson, OSB, a monk of Saint Meinrad
Archabbey in St. Meinrad, IN.
The witness of their faith, courage, perseverance and dedication
can help an individual recognize everyone is called to the same
union with God.
From Season to Season: A Book of Saintly Wisdom by Br.
Silas combines words of wisdom from a variety of saintly men and
women across six continents and representing nearly 2,000 years of
Christian thought and prayer. The book was published in March 2012
by Abbey Press.
Br. Silas included original reflections and extended meditations
on the solemnities and feasts of the Roman Catholic liturgical
calendar.
"My hope is that these extended meditations will complement and
expand the words of the saints themselves," says Br. Silas.
The book grew from the From Season to Season: A Year of Saintly
Wisdom perpetual calendar Br. Silas arranged with Abbey Press
Publications in 2007.
With an entry for every day of the year, Br. Silas provides
inspiration and understanding to serve as a starting point for
one's own journey of faith, following in the footsteps of
saints.
"Although these quotations are drawn from men and women
representing the Roman Catholic tradition, I believe that all
people of faith will recognize the truth in their words and can
benefit from their admonitions, advice and prayer," says Br.
Silas.
